Start at the word "center" and then follow the blocking directions to navigate between words in the letter. "Upstage" means go up one word. (i.e. look at the word that's above the word you're currently on) and "downstage" means go down one word. "Stage right" means go one word to the left (see the theater map), and "stage left" means go one word to the right.
